Bike Transport

You can book your bike on to one of our transfers for £40 each way (increasing to £50 after 31st March) from My Shop here in your Rider Account. Vans go out and back between UK and France throughout the event from a number of locations, listed below.

Details of the Bike Transport options are posted here in December/January and are then available to buy until the end of April.

Bike Transport Instructions

 

1. You don’t need to remove pedals or twist handlebars. Leave your bike exactly as you ride it.

2. Remove anything that could fall off during transit (inc. computers, large saddle packs, water bottles). One small, very securely attached saddle pack is okay if it lives on your bike and is difficult to remove, but please no more than that.

3. Take your bike to your drop off bike shop, within their opening hours and before the drop off deadline listed.

4. The bike shop will be waiting for your bike and will label it for you before storing it ready for the Le Loop collection.

5. Please be very friendly to the bike shop. Think of buying something! They don’t charge us for this brilliant service so if you give them some business, or book a service for the bike on its return, it would be wonderful. See below for their deals.

6. It’s a busy time of year for all our bike hubs. If you want to book a service, make sure you get it booked well in advance. They want to help and hate to disappoint riders – so make sure you give them sufficient notice.

NOTE i. We pack the bikes with removal blankets so you don’t need to take your bike apart or do anything special to it at all. You just turn up and hand it over. This is how we transport the bikes when there are transfers between stages. The mechanics have done this a million times.

NOTE ii. If you’d prefer to bring your bike yourself by car/train/plane, that’s absolutely fine. We’re happy to transport soft cases and cardboard boxes on tour, but we have to have a zero tolerance policy towards transporting hard cases. This isn’t to be mean, it’s just because they take up so much room in the vans that we’d need an extra truck just to keep them all with us. If your only option is to bring a hard case, you’ll either need to leave it at your first hotel to collect after your Loop OR have it shipped from your first hotel to your last; we just need to be clear that we won’t be able to transport your hard case in our vans.

NOTE iii. We may take all bike bags/cases of those joining us for the Grand Loop, Mountains Week or Second Half (those NOT using Le Loop’s bike transport from/to the UK) and store them in a secure unit during the Tour. They will be returned to you at the end of your ride. This is to save van space for bikes and kit while we travel around the country (there is no charge for this bag storage).
