See the actual Tour... twice!

Le Loop, what’s happening?

Extreme excitement – a once in a Le-Loop-lifetime event! … next summer you can ride Le Loop and have the opportunity to see the Pro peloton (twice!)

Amazing. How is this possible?

Our 2027 Tour of Tours route crosses paths with the 2027 Tour route in the Alps. This means that on our second rest day (13th July) and our stage 17 (14th July) we’ll be able to see the actual Tour de France with our own eyes…

The Tour has a rest day on a Monday whilst ours is on a Tuesday. So on Tuesday 13th July we’ll be able to ride out and spectate stage 10 of the Pro Tour which finishes in Sallanches, just 7km from our hotel.

Then on Wednesday 14th July, we’re riding from St Gervais to Albertville, crossing paths for a few kilometres with the pros who are riding from Cluses to Les Saisies. Another opportunity to see the pros, this time mid-ride!

And which Loops get to share in this fun?

The Grand Loop, Second Half and Alps Loop will all have the excitement of seeing the real Tour de France in person on both days. For those signed up for the Mountains Week, the rest day is your departure day – so book a late flight home and enjoy!

Has anything changed? Are the routes still the same?

The only change is to the Lite option for stage 17 which will now miss the Saisies climb instead of the Forclaz Montmin climb & lake loop.

All cyclists (Full route and Lite route) will see the pros ride past (near Saint Ferréol) before continuing with the rest of the stage as planned. It’s the best ever feedstop location!

Everything else stays the same.

How will it work in practise?

You don’t need to do anything, or make special plans:

For the rest day, we’ll give you suggestions of where to watch along with some advice on timings and viewing tips. We expect cyclists to spend a leisurely morning at the hotel/laundrette/café and then head out for an afternoon ride to see this spectacle of a lifetime.

For stage 17, we’ll brief everyone thoroughly the night before and we’ll give out the gpx file so that there’s no risk of losing your way, even on the sections where our signing car can’t pass. We expect everyone to make it to our Saint Ferréol feedstop in time to see the Caravan and the pros – but even if you’re a bit later than expected, it’s not a problem; we’ll explain what to do, where to watch and how to continue. (The only part of the route where there’s even a small risk of a timings clash is shadowed by a brilliant bike path, meaning that we can still ride, even if the actual road is closed).

I’ve seen that the Etape du Tour is close to us too. Is that going to make things difficult?

Fear not, the Etape du Tour will ride the Cluses to Saisies stage on Sunday 11th July, 3 days before the pros ride it (on Weds 14th) and we cross their path.

On Sunday 11th, we’ll be on the opposite side of Lake Annecy sunning ourselves on stage 15 without any risk of crossing paths with the Etape du Tour.

And from a logistics point of view, all is well; hotels are confirmed, reservations are made and although we’ll be geographically close, there’s no risk of logistical problems.

Anything else to note?

No – we just invite you to share our enthusiastic excitement!…

What finer way to celebrate our Tour of Tours ‘best of’ route than actually seeing our heroes ride by, not to mention the publicity caravan and everything else that makes the Tour such a special, special event.
