Are Young Men in Crisis?

Gareth Southgate - the Dimbleby Lecture

Following Sir Gareth Southgate’s moving Dimbleby lecture last month, the Newscast podcast produced this episode where they were joined by Ceylon Andi Hickman – the Director of WWMT-supported Football Beyond Borders.

The conclusions of both episodes echo those reached by WWMT Trustee (and Chairman of le Loop) Rick Wates in his blog: Tackling the Surge in Knife Crime.

If you want to understand the importance of the impact of your fundraising, please listen and share with your supporters.

Positive Actions

Ceylon outlined the following positive actions which WWMT wholeheartedly endorse:

1. Create safe spaces in the real world that allow for meaningful intergenerational connection and belonging
2. Bring in trusted adults who have the skills to work with young people, who come from their communities. who speak their language and can act as positive role models
3. Provide spaces where young people can learn to fail, build resilience and learn to think critically
4. Seek out the positive influencers that young people will listen to and provide them with the platform and skills to reach out through social media and real life.
5. Do this intensively over a long period of time

Why your efforts matter.

Every young person deserves the chance to realise their potential, free from the shadow of crime and violence.

That belief is shared by WWMT and drives their work with grassroot charities.

By riding Le Loop, you are ensuring that WWMT can continue to support this work.
