We’re delighted to bring 2 young people from the projects supported by WWMT, to join us on tour each year. They come along with a key worker and spend 2 nights with us, riding or supporting our riders for one stage.
This year we have 2 fantastic young people joining us:
Key worker Philippa is bringing Ryan along from the Youth Adventure Trust. Ryan has shown real progress in his time with YAT and has really earned his place to join us in France. Philippa is a cyclist and will be tackling stage Stage 16 from Nimes while Ryan will work with our support team in the feedstop vans, so you’ll get to say hi to him throughout the day.
Andy Smith, founder and director of Regenerate will be bringing Catlyn to join us for stage 14 – the Tourmalet stage. Andy’s also a bit of a cyclist, so he’ll take on riding the stage (brave man!). Meanwhile, Catlyn is one of Regenerate’s Feel Good Bakery team and so she’s a dream-come-true for our support team in the feed stop vans. She’ll be helping with food preparation and general support of all our riders.
Both will speak to the group after dinner on one evening, with their key worker (Andy/Phil) speaking on their 2nd evening. This is their chance to tell their stories, to help you riders understand just how big an impact the grants from WWMT make to these young lives. It’s your chance to ask questions, to encourage and support them too. Their stories are always humbling, often heartbreaking – and they never fail to leave a lasting impression on our riders.
When you climb on your bikes the next day, it will be with a whole new level of appreciation for why Le Loop exists and why you should be so very proud of all your fundraising efforts over the last few months. From experience, we also know that you will be inspired to dig deeper on that next killer stage and to feel so very grateful that you are in a position to take part in Le Loop and follow your cycling dreams.
